About Project 407

Built from experience on both sides of the business.

Project 407 combines professional software development experience with the firsthand reality of owning and operating a local service business.

Based in Northern Massachusetts and working with service businesses throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and remotely.

The story behind Project 407

Software experience meets real-world business ownership.

Project 407 was founded by Kevin Whelan, a software engineer and the owner of 407 Haul Away LLC, a junk removal company serving Northern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

After years of building software professionally, Kevin experienced the other side of technology firsthand: trying to grow a local service business, generate leads, earn customer trust, manage inquiries, and keep daily operations organized.

That experience exposed a gap. Many small businesses don’t need trendy technology, complicated systems, or agency jargon. They need a professional online presence that helps customers understand their services, trust their business, and take the next step.

Project 407 was created to build exactly that—websites and software grounded in how service businesses actually work.

A different perspective

We understand more than the technology.

Every project benefits from experience building software and running the type of business that software is supposed to support.

Software engineering

Built on professional technical experience.

Project 407 brings years of experience developing websites, applications, APIs, and business systems. Your project is built with a focus on performance, reliability, maintainability, and long-term usefulness.

Service business ownership

Informed by running a local business.

We understand estimates, customer inquiries, scheduling, advertising, reviews, equipment expenses, and the pressure to keep work coming in—because those challenges are part of our own day-to-day experience.

What guides our work

Practical solutions without the agency runaround.

Good technology should make your business clearer, easier to find, and easier to operate.

01

Solve the right problem

We start with your business and goals before recommending a website, feature, or system.

02

Keep communication clear

You’ll understand what is being built, why it matters, what it costs, and what happens next.

03

Build for real customers

Every decision should help customers find what they need, trust your company, and contact you.

04

Think beyond launch day

Your website or software should remain useful as your services, team, and business continue growing.

Our mission

Help good service businesses look as professional online as they are on the job.

Whether that means creating a stronger website, improving an outdated one, or building software around a repetitive business process, the goal is the same: deliver something useful that supports the work you’re already doing.
